Song for Mars

Through lens we gazed, saw your arched back
Your sands parched and cracked
And fashioned our swords, our guns, our shells

A single blood drop
A fallen war god
Glistening red, we saw ourselves

And the arch,
Of golden warheads beat
From silver plowshares we
Having drunk from the bowl, stumble and reel

While broken you lie
Your cold, crimson eye
Closed in its grave, and we draw near

(Refrain)
Red the moon will turn
Red the sun will burn
May your side break wide and flood the curse
Cross the naked plains
Come to trade our names
And go down, down like seed, to die and turn

On ships we will sail,
Bear four-footed beasts
Build store-rooms of wheat
And break wide your ground, to loose all you keep

A single blood drop
A fallen war god
Dead in his wrath, risen in peace

(Refrain)
